Contest Guidelines
Any tree within the City of Peterborough is eligible for entry in the Treasured Tree Hunt.
- You can enter:
a) a specific tree
b) a short story about a tree in Peterborough (1 to 10 pages)
c) a photograph of a tree or group of trees in Peterborough - What can qualify as an entry? Big trees, unusual trees, trees with special memories, wildlife-friendly trees, trees with beautiful shapes, kid-friendly trees – anything that makes your tree a “treasure” to you can be nominated.
- Enter as much information as you can on the entry form (don’t worry if you don’t know the species or height of the tree – our tree experts can tell you).
- Describe exactly where the tree is. If you are not the owner of the tree, do you know who owns the property? A tree in a public park doesn’t need an owner’s signature, but try to get the signature of the private property owner if possible, which will give our experts permission to visit, measure and evaluate the tree.
- You may submit more than one entry. If the same tree is nominated more than once, the first entry received at the Peterborough Green-Up office will be the only entry eligible for a prize.
